Boyfriend Buys Pants

Over reading week Boyfriend bought a new pair of pants. It was an exciting day for everyone in our family: Boyfriend now owns TWO pairs of pants, I no longer have to listen to Boyfriend whine about how he doesn't like the way his one pair of pants fit, and Kitten got a new bag.

As soon as I put the bag down, Kitten dove right in. Getting in the bag is always the best part for Kitten. I am pretty sure he thinks no one can see him when he is in the bag. The tricky part, is getting out of the bag.

As you can see, this bag has strings. Strings tend to complicate, what is for Kitten, an already complicated task. Kitten can never seem to figure out how to escape the clutches of bag strings.

Anyway,  I know I posted about Kitten and bags not long ago (Kitten: Bags & Boxes), but I thought this video was worth sharing.

Spoiler Alert: The bag wins.

Enjoy!

Kitten LOVES Pizza & Beer!

I know I have done several Kitten & Pizza posts before (Kitten LOVES Pizza!Re: Kitten LOVES Pizza), but Kitten really does love pizza. Pizza night is probably more exciting for Kitten than it is for Boyfriend and I, and Boyfriend and I REALLY love pizza nights. In fact, I think tonight it going to be a pizza night...

Kitten didn't actually like the beer though. He checked it out and decided against it. I am not sure, because Kitten doesn't speak English yet so I can't ask him, but I think his father might have had a drinking problem. The other night when Boyfriend and I were having a glass of wine and watching the Bachelor, Kitten came over and knocked the wine glass right out of Boyfriend's hand and all over the couch. I tried to tell him that a glass of red wine is good for you, but I am also starting to wonder if Kitten understands English at all...
I apologize for the rambling, but I am starting to get sick and am having trouble concentrating.

Anyway, please enjoy some more Kitten & Pizza pictures!

Kitten's Cat-Naps

One thing that Kitten undoubtedly has in common with all other cats (and boyfriend) is his love for naps. Kitten spends about 85% of the day wandering around the apartment looking for the best places to nap. While boyfriend tends to stick to the couch and the bed, Kitten often strives for creativity.

Here are Kitten's top places to nap around the apartment:

1. Anywhere I am trying to study.

2. The Chair

I am not sure what Kitten is doing here, but he does it often.

3. In Drawers: I try to keep these drawers closed because the unit is from IKEA and the drawers can barely handle the weigh of socks. Kitten however, never fails to find his way into one the second I forget to close it.

4.  By the Door: I am not sure if it is the smell of the shoes or because this is the area we keep pizza boxes until they make it down to the recycling, but Kitten loves napping by the door.

Unfortunately, Kitten often gets crushed when one of us comes home and opens the door. He gives us a very unimpressed look when this happens.

5. The Amp: This was Kitten's favourite spot for quite some time. Unfortunately for Kitten, Boyfriend and I found a oscillating fan in the garbage and it has taken over this spot.

6. By His Food: I am sure this one does not come as a surprise. Kitten can often be found napping by his food. I am pretty sure he does this so in the event that new food is poured into his bowl (or someone is having cheese) he won't need to travel far.

7. On the filing cabinet: This is by far one of Kitten's favourite napping places. The problem is, it is also where boyfriend and I tend to place unpaid bills, pens, highlighters etc, all of which end up on the ground or under the heater.

8. The Bed: Probably the most conventional place Kitten likes to sleep is the bed. He will tend to nap here at least once a day. However, if there is a person in the bed, Kitten will likely walk on their face to indicate that it is his turn. He believes in sharing.

9. The Windowsill: Before Kitten, Boyfriend and I used to try to place decorations or plants on the windowsill. Kitten seemed dissatisfied with out decorating and took to removing anything placed there. Windowsills are now solely for Kitten napping.

10. The Floor: The most tried and true of the Kitten nap spots. Nothing seems to pale to our tile and parquet floors, by far, Kitten's most treasured of all napping places.

NOT Kitten

This is not a Kitten blog post. This is an entry about my pets however, or more correctly, my family's pets.

I decided to go home for the longweekend since Boyfriend is working 12 hour shifts the entire time. When I spend too much time alone, I end up eating only cookies and ice cream and watching bad chick  flicks (circa 2000).  The saddest part about leaving my Toronto apartment, is leaving Kitten. While there is definitely no shortage of domesticated animals in my childhood home, none of the many furry critters here compare to Kitten.

I am sure these ordinary animals will bore you. You might not even make it past the first two pictures. But look on if you like.

You probably won't Enjoy!

Tony: Only likes drinking water from running faucets.

Rookie: Always looks depressed.

Lilly: Obese.

Giorgio: Used to be my cat in undergrad, but she was lame so I passed her on to the fam.

Rattigan: My sister's rat.

The Day the Pigeon Came

The other day I was sitting on the couch reading, when I heard an odd noise. I turned to see what it was and saw Kitten, perched on the back of a chair, hunched over, shaking violently and emitting weird glottal sounds. Out of all of Kitten's oddities (eg. growling when someone knocks at the door, meowing at the sound of the cheese wrapper), this was a new one.

For a moment I thought he might be ill. I got up to see if he was okay and realized that he was staring intently out the window. I followed his unwavering gaze onto the rail of our balcony where a single pigeon was perched.

Since we live on the 10th floor, we don't often see anything on our balcony. This pigeon however, had made it up and was quite obviously taunting Kitten with her coy head turns and nonchalant stare.

I cannot be sure if Kitten wanted to eat the pigeon, play with the pigeon or simply introduce himself to the pigeon. Whatever his intent, his inability to act was causing tremors and involuntary throat sounds.

I tried to capture the sounds on video, by my camera couldn't pick them up. I did however take several excellent pictures and video footage of Kitten and the pigeon.

Enjoy!

As a side note:
In all of these pictures if you look carefully you can see the tape that Boyfriend and I need put around our balcony doorframe to keep Winter out of our apartment.

Kitten: Bags & Boxes

I apologize for the lack of Kitten Blog lately. I have no excuse. Times have started to get stressful at school again and I can appreciate that some Kitten Blogging might be necessary to provide an outlet for procrastination for both myself and fellow Factum writers.

This entry is all about Kitten and his love for boxes and bags. Of course, this love is not unique. From what I have heard, pretty much all cats love a good bag or box. I still thought you might enjoy a few good pictures of Kitten while he is exploring these magical places.  Sadly, I seem to have lost some of the best Kitten-in-bag pictures from about a year and a half ago. These pictures were taken pre-MacBook and were most likely lost in the numerous re-formattings required by my old and unfaithful Dell.

Enjoy!

I am not sure why we had this box laying around, but Kitten thoroughly enjoyed it. Boyfriend & I briefly considered transforming it into a castle for Kitten, but decided against it. I was opposed to the eye-sore it would create and I am pretty sure Kitten is colour blind anyway.

Kitten's favourite time of the week is grocery shopping day. Not only does he get a chance to chew through the  bread bag before we get a chance to put it away, he also gets to romp in a wonderland of bags.

Boyfriend and I always use reusable bags, so there is never any threat of suffocation. Though sometimes, we forget Kitten is in the bags and step on him. We also like to play a game where we pretend we don't realize he is in the bag and then carry it around. I don't think Kitten appreciates the joke, but I do think he finds the ride fun.

I am not too sure what is going on here. I feel like Kitten may have thought he was invisible and tried to spy on me and Boyfriend. That or he just woke up and was really confused about being in a bag. He might have also forgotten how to get out.
I know I have posted one of these before, but the series of them are quite priceless. Kitten seemed to be under the impression that he could sufficiently fit inside the soda cracker box. As you an see below, he was not impress when he realized that I could in fact still see him. Or he may have just been eating some soda cracker crumbs. You can never really tell with Kitten.
The finale of this Kitten Blog entry is a brief video clip of Kitten playing with a bag. I should have mentioned earlier that "bag play" is not always fun and games for Kitten. He takes it very seriously and unfortunately, sometimes the bag wins. This is one of those times.
